Annika Zschörnig has kindly agreed to answer some questions
SP: What convinced you at the time that you wanted to work for Schenck Process?
AZ: After graduating from the University of Cooperative Education (comment: now Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University), where I studied Mechatronics, I wanted to start working with an international company that still had a clear structure.
As a Sales Engineer, a company's products are of course very important to me. I particularly like Schenck Process because we don't produce bulk goods, but solutions that are tailored to the customer in the most diverse applications. In my job, I have a good overview of the products in the company.
SP: Think back to your first day at Schenck Process - what was it like?
AZ: My first day at Schenck Process was very positive, because I felt like I was expected. My workstation was very well prepared, I liked the working environment and I was even given a bunch of flowers to welcome me to the company. My line manager introduced me to my colleagues and we had lunch together, both of which made my start on my first day considerably easier.
SP: What do you like about your current job?
AZ: Since the start of 2009, I have been responsible for Greece, Bulgaria and Macedonia as a Regional Sales Manager. I particularly like the fact that I accompany a project from the beginning to the end – in other words, from drawing up quotations and consulting the designers to travelling to the customer's premises and installing the system. We encounter new requirements all the time and our range of products is very diverse.
SP: What would you say to someone who is interested in working as a Sales Engineer?
AZ: Working as a Sales Engineer is very interesting and diverse. At Schenck Process, we don't sell bulk goods, we offer the customer individual solutions. We know our customers, and customer care is more than just team work; it extends far beyond delivering a machine.
SP: What, for you, has been the biggest highlight of working at Schenck Process to date?
AZ: My biggest highlight to date was receiving my own area of responsibility following my induction period. During this period, I worked with various colleagues and therefore had the opportunity to focus on best practices. Having my own sales area now allows me to set my own priorities and work on my own initiative.
SP: What do you think of Schenck Process as an employer?
AZ: The company is very diverse. You can work on an international basis and have the opportunity to further develop yourself in a number of directions. Further training is taken very seriously at Schenck Process. During my induction period, I attended 3 sales seminars. Having appraisals with your line manager also gives employees the chance to set objectives and to directly address opportunities for further development. I think it's fantastic that at Schenck Process you can also get to know colleagues on a personal level, on Family Day or corporate races such as the Datterich or JP Morgan race, which a lot of colleagues take part in.
SP: What do you particularly enjoy doing in your spare time?
AZ: When the weather's nice I like jogging and inline skating. I also like spending time with my friends or going swimming.
